Surfaced Attacks
Submerged Attacks
Evasive Tactics
Deck Gun Attacks

Then return to the blog and summarize as well as reflect on your training.

2. What three speeds could convoys travel?
3. A U-boat’s best defense is concealment. But once this is blown, what is the next best recourse (thing to do)?
4. In U-boat school, commanders are guided by the principle, “He who sees first, has won!”. What do YOU think that means?
5. What is a “Rudeltaktik"? Why do YOU think this was an effective U-boat tactic?

ReplyDelete2) Slow-Medium-Fast
3) There best defense in that situation would to just quickly get away(or sail away)
4)If you see a enemy first you will shot him (you win), but if he sees you first then he will shoot you so (so he will win;and you will lose=(
5)It means devastating impact on allied shipping
-Breanna Smith
1.The Wolf Pack because the night of attacks was called "The Night of the Long Knives"

1) My favorite was the Wolf Pack because I thought it was clever and it probably worked really well. I think that it was probably one of the most effective ones.
ReplyDelete2) A convoys speeds are slow, medium, and fast. Slow is equal to 4 to 6 knots, medium is 7 to 9 knots and fast is 10 to 12 knots.
3) The next thing to do is to dive immediately.
4) I think that it means that if you see them first, then you will attack them first and you will win. If they see you first, they will attack you before you know they are there. Then you lose!
5) It is the Wolf Pack. It's where they put a whole bunch of boats together and attack the enemy on surprise. They come up with an organized plan and attack.
1) I found surface attacks most interesting because i thought u-boats were best submerged and the fact that they are undectable by radar on the surface is so cool
ReplyDelete2) slow (4-6 knots)medium (7-9 knots) and fast (10-12 knots)
3) the u-boat will dive down to a deep depth, but they have to be quick before the ships ram them. it takes 30 seconds for the u-boat to dive as deep as needed
4) What the teacher means is if the opponent sees you first he will shoot and will use the element of surprise. if you see them first you can use the element of surprise and destroy them first there for "whoever sees first, has won"
5) rudeltaktik is another name for the wolf pack tactic. its a good tactic because its harder for a convoy to destroy 6-9 u-boats then to destroy 1.
1. I think the surface attack tactics are most interesting, because it's fast and just is the coolest!!
ReplyDelete2. They can travel slow, which is 4-6 knots, medium, which is 7-9 knots, and fast, which is 10-12 knots.
3. Once their cover is blown they need to dive immediately, but if it's spotted above water they dive down.
4. If you find the enemy or clues or whatever they are looking for you have won or won pride.
5. "Rudeltaktik" means Wolf Pack. Because they are faster and hidden and easier to hit targets.
1. Which tactic did you find most interesting? Why?
ReplyDeleteI thought the wolf tactic was cool because the allies just couldn't do well against it.
2. What three speeds could convoys travel?
slow = 4 to 6 knots, medium = 7 to 9 knots, fast = 10 to 12 knots
3. A U-boat’s best defense is concealment. But once this is blown, what is the next best recourse (thing to do)?
The next is speed. the u-boat can be on the surface and speed away, or dive fast.
4. In U-boat school, commanders are guided by the principle, “He who sees first, has won!”. What do YOU think that means?
If the commander sees first then he can act first and kill first.
5. What is a “Rudeltaktik"? Why do YOU think this was an effective U-boat tactic?
a rudeltaktik is a wolf pack tactic. It must have been effective because it sunk many ships.
